New Jersey/New York Chapter
Welcome to the esteemed New York/New Jersey Chapter, hosts of the 2005 National Convention. Accept greetings from the New York State, home of the Big Apple, the most cosmopolitan city in the world and New Jersey, the Garden State, producers of garden fresh vegetables as well as Tom Cruise, Queen Latifah and Shaq O'Neal. As neighbors, New Jersey and New York are joined geographically in a very peculiar way! With the Island of Manhattan pointing menacingly at northern New Jersey like a blunt missile, thanks to the Hudson River, there is nothing but love left between the two states. Someone once said that New Yorkers fondly refer to New Jersey as the 'dormitory state' It was only natural that the Sakerettes catch on this natural affiliation . . . hence the New York/New Jersey Chapter came into being. Alright, alright, the Sakerettes in Texas spearheaded this whole movement of an association of ex-students of Saker credit is due. We are however, proud to have caught the wave. Watch out!
ABOUT THE NY/NJ CHAPTERThe New York/New Jersey Chapter was launched in March of 2002. As a branch of the national association, our purpose is to advance the welfare and prestige of our alma mater and its alumna. To do so, we are making effort to assist the national association in encouraging, establishing and maintaining a mutually beneficial relationship between Saker Baptist College and us, its ex-students. We meet regularly to foster our own welfare here in the United States. Our chapter objective is to maintain a social network of all Sakerettes residing in the New York/New Jersey area and its vicinity, by promoting sisterhood, unity and advancement of all its members. Being an alumna association, we foremost want to contribute to the general welfare of Saker Baptist College and its current students. In these fledgling first years, we see better days ahead because like our motto states, 'together we can accomplish the extraordinary'. That spirit is alive and strong among the dedicated members who are fifteen members strong and growing. Membership is open to any lady living in this area who attended Saker Baptist College regardless of duration or graduation status. Meetings are currently being held monthly, rotating between member's homes. It is a noble cause we have chosen. To give something back to our alma mater and in so doing, give thanks to God almighty for blessing us abundantly. If you live in our area and share in our purpose and objectives, by all means, do join us. Our Chapter Executive ( Drum roll please!)
