Water Project
JESUS - THE WATER OF LIFEWater, water, give me water to drink!
Jesus is the Water of Life
Oh come to Jesus.
And Jesus said: (John 4:13 & 14) ExSSA-USA has set up a water project for Saker Baptist College. The purpose of the water project is to raise funds to build and develop a sustainable water supply system (storage tank) for Saker in order to address the present and future water demands of the school. For the current students at Saker, having a continuous source of running water on their school yard is a dream. On several occasions during the dry season, if they are thirsty at school or need to wash their hands, they must go down to a nearby stream (Likomba)! A school becomes a healthier place when clean water is easily available. Students get sick less often and miss fewer days of school. At its inception, the Saker water supply scheme worked effectively for some time. However, the current water supply scheme has outlived its usefulness. Presently during the dry season, the water yield is very small to meet the demands of the staff and students of Saker Baptist College, while during the rainy season, the yield is high, but the water quality is poor. After considering increase in the school's population and the health hazards associated with consuming contaminated water, the administration of Saker Baptist College asked Deep Water Works of Bamenda, Cameroon to conduct an investigative survey and designs on how to supply enough water to the Saker community. After conducting an investigative study, Deep Water Works concluded that Saker Baptist College needs a storage tank of 50,000 liters and two boreholes to effectively have enough water for bathing, cooking, laundry, scrubbing, and above all, to effectively have all the water system toilets functioning. The total cost of this project is 14,000, 000 FCFA ($30,000). The ExSSA-Georgia Chapel is spearheading the Saker Water Project for ExSSA-USA.
